View FramePicture Frame Moulding & Construction
Our mouldings are milled from sustainably sourced basswood, poplar, and ash, then finished with lacquer, gesso, or genuine wood veneer. Every mitre joint is cut at a precise 45-degree angle and reinforced with v-nails and wood glue for lasting structural integrity. Profile widths range from a slim 1/2 inch to a substantial 3 inches, with depths from 3/8 inch to 1-1/4 inches depending on the moulding.
Glazing, Matting, and Backing Options
Every frame ships with framer's grade acrylic glazing standard, and a non-glare acrylic upgrade is available for rooms with bright lighting or direct sun on the wall. Acid-free mat boards are available in 45 colors and can be cut in single, double, or triple configurations to slow yellowing on photographs, prints, and artwork. Backing boards are archival foam core or corrugated, with dust covers and pre-installed hanging hardware included at no extra charge.
Ordering and Turnaround
Enter your artwork dimensions during checkout and our production team cuts every component to match. Standard production is 3-5 business days before shipping. Each frame ships fully assembled with all mounting hardware, a wall bumper kit, and care instructions. We guarantee the fit: if a frame does not match your specified dimensions, we will remake it at no cost.
From slim minimalist profiles to ornate carved wood, the collection spans modern, transitional, and traditional aesthetics in widths from 1/2 inch to 3 inches.
Standard and non-standard sizes are produced on the same equipment with the same precision. No surcharge for odd dimensions within the supported range.
Clear acrylic glazing comes standard on every frame and weighs half as much as glass, with an optional non-glare acrylic upgrade for rooms with bright lighting.
Acid-free mat boards maintain a neutral pH, preventing acid migration that causes brown staining on artwork over time.
Common Questions
What size should I order for my artwork?
Measure the artwork itself, not an old frame or mat. Enter the width and height of the piece in inches. Our system adds the necessary rabbet clearance (typically 1/8 inch on each side) so your art drops in without force. If you are adding a mat, enter the artwork size and choose your mat width separately; the outer frame dimensions will adjust automatically.
What is the difference between glass and acrylic glazing?
Standard glass is 2.5 mm thick, provides excellent clarity, and resists surface scratching. Acrylic is roughly half the weight and virtually shatter-proof. Every frame ships with framer's grade acrylic standard and a non-glare acrylic upgrade is available for rooms with bright lighting. For frames larger than 18x24 inches, or for items that will be shipped or hung in high-traffic areas, we recommend acrylic for safety and durability.
How do I choose between single and double matting?
A single mat provides a clean border between the glazing and the artwork. A double mat adds a thin inner accent border, typically 1/4 inch wide, that introduces a second color and adds visual depth. Double matting also increases the air gap between the glazing surface and the artwork, which helps prevent moisture-related issues like foxing or emulsion transfer on photographs.
Do frames arrive ready to hang?
Yes. Every frame ships with a sawtooth hanger or D-ring hanging wire pre-installed on the back, plus adhesive wall bumpers to keep the frame level and protect your wall surface. For frames over 20x24 inches, we use heavy-duty D-rings rated for the frame's weight. A detailed hanging guide is included in each shipment. Our full how to hang a picture guide walks through eye-level placement, hardware choice, and wall prep.
