For most framing projects, yes. Acrylic is lighter, shatter-resistant, available with a non-glare option, and safer to ship. Glass still has a place at very small sizes or fully controlled display environments, but for residential and commercial framing acrylic is the better default.

Acrylic is softer than glass and can scratch if cleaned with abrasive cloths or harsh sprays. Used correctly, with a microfiber cloth and no ammonia, it stays clear for decades. Most homeowners and offices never notice the difference in scratch resistance under normal use.

Longevity comes mostly from the materials around the image and from where you display it: acid-free matting, archival mounting, and reversible hinging all help. For glazing we offer framer's grade acrylic and a non-glare acrylic that cuts reflections in bright rooms.

Yes. Our non-glare acrylic option cuts glare significantly, which matters for pieces displayed under direct lighting or near windows. It is the typical choice for art shown in living rooms, galleries, and conference rooms.

Acrylic is roughly half the weight of glass at the same thickness. The difference becomes very significant at large sizes, where glass becomes hazardous to hang and ship.

High-quality picture-framing acrylic is stable for decades under normal indoor conditions. We use grade-appropriate acrylic for the application; the bargain-bin acrylic sheets sold for general use are not the same product.

Acrylic is shatter-resistant rather than shatterproof. Under heavy impact it can crack, but unlike glass it generally will not break into sharp shards that damage the artwork underneath or pose a safety hazard.

Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth for dusting. For smudges, dampen the cloth with water or a cleaner labeled safe for acrylic. Never use ammonia-based cleaners (Windex and similar), as they cloud the surface permanently.
