What can I customize with the mat designer?
Overall mat size, opening size and shape (rectangle, oval, circle, and decorative shapes), single or double matting with a color reveal, v-groove accents, reverse bevel, bottom-weighted borders, an engraved brass nameplate, and an optional bundled frame with glazing and hardware. Can I order a mat without a frame?
Yes. The designer opens as a mat-only order. Adding a frame is optional and bundles a 10% discount across the mat, frame, and glazing.
What is a double mat?
A double mat stacks two colors with a small reveal of the inner mat around the opening, adding depth. Pick the reveal width and the inner color in the designer.
What is a v-groove?
A v-groove is a decorative v-shaped channel cut into the mat around the opening, revealing the board's core color for a refined, framed-within-a-frame look.
How is the opening measured?
Enter your artwork size. With Artwork Overlap on, the opening is cut 1/4 inch smaller per side so the mat holds the edge of your art. Turn it off to cut the exact dimensions you enter.
