Glazing for Posters
At the 24×36 size and larger, acrylic glazing weighs roughly half as much as glass, reduces wall stress, and is shatter resistant. Every poster frame ships with framer's grade acrylic for a clear, lightweight view of the print. Non-glare acrylic is available as an upgrade and diffuses surface reflections, keeping the poster readable opposite windows or under direct lighting. For valuable or limited-edition prints, pair either glazing with an acid-free mat and archival mounting board and hang the frame out of direct sunlight to slow color shift on inkjet and offset prints.
Mounting Without Buckling
Paper posters expand and contract with humidity. Hinge the top edge only with archival linen tape so the paper hangs naturally under its own weight. Taping all four edges traps the paper and produces visible ripples within a few weeks. If a poster is already wavy, sandwich it under a clean archival board with evenly distributed weight for 24 to 48 hours before framing.

Do I need a mat board for a poster frame?
A mat is optional. Posters are designed as complete compositions and many collectors frame them edge to edge without a mat. A mat adds a visual border that lifts the artwork off the glazing, provides an archival barrier for valuable prints, and lets you bring a smaller poster up to a more prominent finished display size. For an 18×24 poster, a 2-inch mat border produces a finished frame of about 22×28 inches.
Can I frame a non-standard poster size?
Yes. Every frame is cut to your exact dimensions to 1/8 inch. If your poster is a non-standard size, an international format, or a vintage piece that does not match modern dimensions, enter the measured width and height during ordering and the frame is built to match. What is the best frame style for a poster?
A slim 3/4 to 1-inch flat profile in matte black or satin black is the most common choice for modern posters because it provides a clean border without competing with the artwork.
