Picture Framing

Large Picture Frames & Oversized Picture Frames

Custom picture frames for oversized art, posters, photographs, and prints. We define large as 24×36 and up. Standard frames ship up to 32 by 40 inches (or 40 by 32 inches); larger pieces are available for local pickup or freight delivery — contact us to plan an oversized build.

Use Cases

  • Oversized art prints and gallery reproductions
  • Large photographs and panoramas
  • Tapestries and textiles
  • Maps and architectural drawings
  • Group photos and large composites
  • Movie posters and event posters at full size

Glazing on Large Frames

At large sizes we glaze with acrylic, not glass. Glass becomes heavy and risky to ship safely above roughly 24×36 inches. Acrylic gives the same optical clarity with much less weight and far better shipping safety. Framer's grade and non-glare acrylic options are both available. See the acrylic frames hub for the full comparison.

Shipping Large Frames

Large frames ship in custom crates with rigid corner protection and foam padding. For pieces above the parcel size limit, we switch to freight carriers to reduce handling damage. Tracking is included.

In-person consultation for very large pieces

For pieces over 60 inches on the long side, we recommend an in-person review at our Somerset, NJ shop. Walk-ins are welcome with no appointment, and the operator can confirm the moulding, matting, and glazing plan before production starts. Find the shop details on the oversized framing service page.

Common Questions

What is the largest frame you can make?

Standard frames ship up to 32 by 40 inches (or 40 by 32 inches), the largest size that ships by standard small-package carrier. We build larger pieces too — those are available for local pickup at our Somerset, NJ shop or by freight delivery, with custom crating and extra production time. For very large originals or panoramas, contact us so we can walk through the build and shipping plan before you order.

Can I get glass on a large frame?

On large frames we glaze with acrylic, not glass. Glass becomes too heavy and too fragile to ship safely at sizes above roughly 24×36 inches. Acrylic gives the same optical clarity, is lighter, and is shatter-resistant; framer's grade and non-glare acrylic options are both available.

How are large frames shipped?

Large frames ship in custom crates with corner protection and rigid foam padding. For pieces over a certain dimension threshold we use freight rather than parcel carriers to reduce handling damage. Tracking is included.

Do you frame canvas larger than 36×48?

Yes. Canvas pieces at this size are typically framed with our floater frames; see the floater frames for canvas hub for the depth and finish options.

Can large frames be wall-mounted safely?

Yes, with the right hardware. We ship larger pieces with reinforced wire and D-ring hardware sized to the weight. For wall mounting at large sizes we recommend anchors into studs or appropriate drywall anchors rated for the total weight of the framed piece.

Are large frame prices proportional, or do they jump at a threshold?

Pricing scales smoothly with linear inches of moulding plus mat and glazing area, with a step at the size where freight shipping kicks in. Use the designer to see real-time pricing at the exact size you need.

Can I bring a large piece in person?

Yes. For pieces over 60 inches we strongly recommend an in-person consultation at our Somerset, NJ shop. Walk-ins are welcome; the operator can review the piece, talk through moulding and glazing options, and confirm the build approach before you commit.

Do you frame banners or posters over 6 feet?

Yes, within reason. For very long banners we use reinforced corner construction and sometimes a center cross-brace behind the matting. Reach out before ordering so we can confirm the dimensions and shipping plan.
