Jersey Display Cases

Jersey Display Cases & Custom Jersey Frames

A jersey display case is a shadow box deep enough to hold a folded or full jersey behind glazing, built to your exact size. At CustomPictureFrames.com every jersey display case ships with a mat board insert and a small sewing kit, so you can keep the jersey stiff and flat and stitch it neatly in place. Cases work for football, baseball, hockey, basketball, and soccer jerseys, with interior backing in your choice of color and clear framer's grade acrylic. Standard orders ship in 3-5 business days. Open the jersey designer to enter your dimensions and set up your case.

The same custom case handles football, baseball, hockey, basketball, and soccer jerseys. The mat board insert keeps any of them stiff and flat, and the included sewing kit lets you stitch the jersey through the mat at a few points so it stays neatly positioned for the long term. Choose folded if you want a more compact display or full spread if you want the number and lettering fully visible.

For more on the frame side of jersey framing (profile choices, sport-specific guidance), see the jersey frames hub. This page focuses on the display case build with the included kit.

How the Mat Board Insert and Sewing Kit Work

The mat board insert is a stiff backing panel sized to the inside of your case. The included sewing kit (thread and needle) is what holds the jersey in place against that panel. You position the jersey on the mat, then pass a few small stitches through the mat at the shoulders, collar, and along the hem. The stitches are invisible from the front and the jersey stays neat and flat through years of display.

Football jerseys are the most common build. Folded football jerseys fit a smaller case; fully spread (sleeves out) need more width. Baseball jerseys are lighter and read well folded or with the front buttons in view. Hockey jerseys are heavier fabric and benefit from the mat-and-stitch system more than any other sport, since the weight will sag without it. Basketball jerseys are sleeveless and tend to look best with the number facing forward, full spread.

Add an Engraved Nameplate

A brass engraved nameplate for the player name, jersey number, season, or championship year mounts on the interior backing or the moulding. See finishes and layouts on the brass nameplates page.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size jersey display case do I need?

Most folded adult jerseys fit in a 24 by 32 case with shallow depth. Full-spread jerseys (sleeves out) typically need around 32 by 40. Youth jerseys run smaller. The designer lets you set width and height to your exact dimensions, so size to the way you want the jersey displayed (folded or full) rather than to a preset.

What is the mat board insert and sewing kit?

Every jersey display case ships with a mat board insert that sits behind the jersey to keep it stiff and flat, and a small sewing kit with thread and a needle. You position the jersey, lay it over the mat, and stitch through the mat at the shoulders, collar, and a few points along the hem so it stays neatly in place over the long term. The blog walkthrough has step-by-step photos.

Will this work for a signed jersey?

Yes. Signed jerseys are one of the most common use cases. For a signed jersey displayed under bright light or across from a window, clear framer's grade acrylic keeps the signature reading clearly from any angle and the case light to hang.

Which sports does this cover?

Football, baseball, hockey, basketball, and soccer jerseys all work in the same case. The differences come down to fabric weight (hockey is heaviest), sleeve length (basketball is sleeveless), and whether you want the jersey folded or fully spread. The case build and the kit are the same across sports.

Can I add a nameplate?

Yes. A brass engraved nameplate can be added for the player name, number, season, or championship year. See the brass nameplates page for finishes and layout, then add one to the design.

How long do jersey display cases take to ship?

Standard orders ship in 3-5 business days. Oversized jersey cases (above 32 by 40) follow the same window in most cases. Every case is made to order at your specified dimensions and tracking goes out by email when the order ships.
