Frame Design and Dimensions
A standard LP jacket measures 12.375 by 12.375 inches (12-3/8 inches square). Our record album frame has an interior opening calibrated for this dimension, with a shallow rabbet depth that holds the jacket snugly without compressing the spine. The moulding face width ranges from 3/4 inch to 1.5 inches depending on the profile selected. Without a mat, the total frame size is approximately 13.875 to 15.375 inches square. With a 1.5-inch mat border, the frame reaches roughly 16 to 17 inches square.
Built to Display, Not to Swap
These are sealed display frames. The cover, the record, or both are mounted inside and the back is closed up around them. Once the frame is on the wall, the artwork stays aligned and the vinyl stays protected. If you want to keep playing the record, frame the empty jacket and store the vinyl in a sleeve, or pick up a second copy for listening. Most collectors choose one record per frame and leave it as wall art.
Protecting Cover Art
Album cover art is printed on coated cardboard stock that holds up well behind glazing. Common Framing Mistakes to Avoid
Direct Contact with Glazing
Records should never touch the front glass. When temperatures change, water drops can form on glass. This moisture can damage labels and cause mold. Our shadowbox frames keep your record away from the glass.
Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives
Regular tape and glue turn yellow over time. They also become sticky and hard to remove. Tape can leave permanent marks on your record and cover. We use nylon screws instead.
Humidity and Temperature Extremes
Keep your framed records away from heaters and damp rooms. Bathrooms and basements can cause damage. Choose a wall with steady room temperature for best results.

Can I display the album with or without the vinyl inside?
Both options work. The frame fits a standard LP jacket alone, the record alone, or the cover and record displayed side by side in a double-record layout. Whichever you choose, the vinyl is held in place by a nylon mounting screw through the center hole. These are display frames, so plan to leave the record mounted long-term rather than pulling it out for playback.
Do you offer frames for 7-inch singles or 10-inch records?
Yes. Enter the jacket dimensions of your 7-inch single (typically 7.25 x 7.25 inches) or 10-inch record (typically 10.375 x 10.375 inches) during ordering, and the frame will be built to match. The same nylon mounting hardware and framer's grade acrylic are used for every size.
Should I use a mat with my record album frame?
A mat is optional. Without a mat, the album cover fills the frame opening completely, which creates a clean, poster-like look. Adding a 1 to 2-inch mat border introduces white or colored space around the cover, which can help the artwork stand out from the wall, especially if you are grouping multiple album frames together. Should I clean my record before framing it?

Dust trapped inside the frame is visible against the black vinyl and very difficult to remove later. Do not use household cleaners on the playable grooves. The record is mounted on a nylon center screw, so once it is in the frame, plan to leave it there long-term.
