How to Frame a Diamond Painting Without Cutting It
- Press the diamonds in. Lay the painting face down on a clean towel and roll over it with a rolling pin or brayer. This seats any diamonds that did not press fully into the adhesive.
- Optionally seal the surface. A clear spray sealant locks every diamond in place. This is optional, especially if you used a high-quality kit, but it adds confidence for a piece that took months to finish.
- Measure the diamond-covered area. Use a ruler or tape measure across the actual gem coverage, not the blank canvas border. Write down the width and height.
- Decide what to do with the blank border. Two options: keep it visible inside a mat opening, or fold it neatly around the backing board. Folding adds about a quarter inch of build on each side; account for that if you choose the folded approach.
- Order the frame to your measured size. Enter the diamond-area dimensions in the designer. Choose acrylic glazing and a depth profile that clears the surface of the gems.
- Mount the painting in the frame. The painting sits on the backing board behind the mat (or directly behind the acrylic if you skipped the mat). Press the back of the frame closed and the painting is ready to hang.
