An artist's studio scene: a cluster of framed and unframed landscape and abstract paintings leaning against a textured plaster wall, with a wooden worktable holding paintbrushes in jars, warm window light raking across the room, and stretcher bars stacked along the right side.

Why use a framing partner instead of doing it yourself?

Self-framing works fine when you are doing 5 to 10 orders a month. Past that, the math stops making sense. You are buying glass, mat board, and frames in small quantities at retail markup, cutting in your kitchen, packing on the dining table, and driving to the post office. A framing partner buys materials at wholesale, cuts on commercial equipment, and ships from a packing station. Most artists who move to fulfillment report 30 to 50 percent higher margin on framed pieces plus 8 to 12 hours a week back.

Can I keep my brand on the customer experience?

Yes. Drop shipments go out in unmarked outer boxes with your custom packing slip inside. You can include a branded thank-you card, sticker pack, business card, or care guide with every order. The customer experience reads as if you packed it yourself. There is no mention of our company on the package unless you ask us to include it.

What kinds of artists work with you?

Map and city illustration artists. Lyric and quote artists. Pet portrait illustrators. Photographers selling fine art editions. Watercolor and gouache artists. Digital artists selling poster-style prints. Wedding and family portrait artists who offer framing as an add-on. If you sell anything that prints flat and looks good in a frame, the workflow fits.

What sizes and print media do you offer?

Giclée prints on archival photo paper in matte or satin finish, custom-sized from 5x7 up to large format. Canvas prints in gallery wrap or museum wrap on premium stretched canvas. Standard frame sizes (8x10, 11x14, 12x16, 16x20, 18x24, 24x36) plus any custom dimension in our manufacturing range. Mat openings cut to 1/8 inch for an exact print fit.

How do you ship framed art without damage?

Every framed piece goes into a foam-corner protector, then into a rigid inner carton, then into an outer shipping carton with at least an inch of crush space on every side. The glazing is acrylic rather than glass, which alone eliminates the most common breakage failure mode in transit. Shipments go out fully insured. For sizes over 24x36 we use double-wall corrugated and add edge crush board. Damage rate across all artist fulfillment shipments runs well under 1 percent.

How do I price framed prints in my shop?

Most artists mark up our wholesale cost 2.5 to 3.5x for their retail price, depending on niche. Higher-priced niches (custom wedding art, premium photography, licensed art) can mark up 4x or more. The framed version typically sells for 2.5 to 4x the unframed print price, which is a meaningful margin boost on every sale. We will send a sample pricing exercise with your wholesale sheet so you can model it.

Framing for artists FAQ

How does framing partnership work for artists selling prints on Etsy or Shopify?
You list framed-print options in your shop. When a customer orders, you send us the print file and frame specs (or we already have your standard SKUs on file). We print on archival giclée paper or canvas, frame it in your chosen profile and mat, and drop ship directly to your customer with your packing slip. You never touch inventory. Standard turnaround is 3-5 business days from order to ship.
Do you ship the framed prints directly to my customers?
Yes. Drop shipping is standard. Each framed piece is double-boxed with corner protectors and ships fully insured. You can include your custom packing slip, thank-you card, or branded insert with every order. Tracking gets sent back to you so you can update your buyer.
Do you offer print-only or frame-only for artists?
Yes. Print-only is common if you already have a framer or your customer wants to frame locally. Frame-only is common if you sell unframed prints separately and want a matching frame as an add-on. Print + frame turnkey is what most online sellers eventually move to because it removes the handling step entirely.
What does it cost per framed piece for an artist?
Wholesale framing for artists prices per unit by size, frame profile, mat configuration, and print media. Most artists land between $35 and $90 per finished framed piece in standard sizes (8x10 through 16x20), with larger sizes priced accordingly. Volume pricing improves as monthly order count grows. Send your standard size list and frame preferences for a wholesale price sheet.
Can I match the frames to my brand or product aesthetic?
Yes. We carry 82 frame profiles in wood and metal, plus 45 archival mat colors. Most artists pick 2 to 4 "house" frames that match their brand and offer those as the choices in their shop. We hold your house specs on file so every reorder is identical, batch to batch.
What is the turnaround on an Etsy or Shopify print order?
Standard production is 3-5 business days from when we receive the order. Most online artists set their shop's processing time to 1 to 2 weeks to give a comfortable buffer including ship transit. Rush production is available on request for holiday orders or last-minute gifts.
How do you handle damaged-in-transit replacements?
Every shipment is insured. If a piece arrives damaged, your customer sends a photo, you forward it to us, and we replace the piece at no additional charge with rush production. The insurance claim is handled on our end. This is one of the main reasons artists move from self-framing to a fulfillment partner: you stop eating the replacement cost.
Do you integrate with Etsy, Shopify, or other platforms?
We do not currently have a one-click app integration, but the workflow is simple: most artists email us a daily batch CSV or fulfill order-by-order through a shared Google Sheet or Trello. For higher-volume sellers we set up a dedicated inbox with auto-routing. If you have a developer and want a webhook integration, we will work with them.
Can you offer wholesale frames for artists who do their own printing?
Yes. If you print your own work and just need wholesale-priced empty frames in your sizes, we cut to order and ship in batches. Most self-printing artists order 20 to 100 frames at a time across a few standard sizes.
Do I need a minimum order quantity to work with you?
No hard minimum. We have artist partners who fulfill 5 framed pieces a month and others who do 500. Wholesale pricing kicks in at 10 units per order. Below that, you still get our standard custom pricing which is competitive for one-offs.
